Właśnie skończyłem i nabrałem większego uznania dla Trenta. Właśnie okazało się, że jest normalnym gościem. Może z tym nimbem tajemniczości nie było tak źle, ale taki obraz człowieka z krwi i kości pasuje do "Year Zero", przynajmniej mnie. Said he didnt get the ipod thing when it first came out but realised how cool it was to carry 1,000 albums around with you all the time. Said he wanted to add value to the process of buying a record again. ‘Survivalism’ Talked about the album concept. Said he came up with most of the ideas for YZ on the road but then had a burst of creativity when he got home- so he rented a place out in the woods away from everything and set about writing it all out. Record is about the state of the world but not literally- an idea of what the future could be if we continued on this path. Said he took a big chance and moved NIN into the world of fiction- says it was fun to be experimental and felt exciting because it could have easily gone wrong. ‘Capital G’ The two presenters started joking around about reminiscing about old 12” vinyl etc and one of them said Trent must be pushing 50-how rude!!. Weirdly the interview with Trent is repeated here- with the same bit about his love of buying albums and the whole inner sleeve art work etc. He also says that it’s the kind of thing where if you put time into it you get something back. Trent mentions how he has been thinking a lot about how people communicate today using technology and the internet and its all about community and sharing. He said its been great to see people on the web discussing the album and talking about whats going on with it. ‘Me, I’m Not’ Presenters both say how much fun they having with this programme! They mention that NIN is really all about the live parts and they mention that they think BYIT is awesome. Trent is asked how he thinks the YZ songs will translate live. He says he has a great band at the moment but it’s a rock band and would be hard to fit the new songs into that structure. He said this current tour was not meant as a YZ tour but as a way of making up for touring the USA so much and not the rest of the world! Said as they don’t get radio very much or mtv that they wanted to tour to get the message out. Tent says that the second part of YZ should hopefully be out in a year and that he would do a tour for both albums. Mentioned the presentation would be like ‘the wall’ with a theatrical based feeling and less like just a rock band on stage. ‘THTF’- live- from last tour didn’t say which gig Asked Trent if he was happier these days. He said he was but didn’t feel like he had got it all worked out. Said that writing was fun again and not like work. Didn’t feel like a burden any more. He said he didn’t feel terrified anymore- said he felt terrified at the time of not being able to write another good song. He is doing what feels right for him and not thinking about whats gonna be best for business. Asked Trent what he though of Johhny Cash’s version of Hurt. Trent said he didn’t really pay attention when he got the cd- said it felt weird to hear someone else singing his song and that it was like ‘someone making out with your girlfriend!’ when he got the video he had a totally different reaction and got choked up and it felt all uncomfortable in the studio. Was very emotionally powerful to hear his song juxtaposed on Johnny Cash’s life and he felt very priviledged. Said it was like a warm hug at the time as he was about to start on with_teeth and was feeling very worried about it- so it helped his confidence levels. ‘Hurt’- Johnny Cash version Trent says that people in his ‘shitty home town’ are recognizing some of his song writing ability after always saying NIN as just noise- some people have spoken to him and said-‘you wrote that Johnny Cash song?!’ Presenter mentioned the NIN wiki and said that the album is described as fucking creepy- Trent says that’s what he was aiming for! Czytając poprzedni, zamknięty już temat o y0, znalazłem taką oto wypowiedź z 5 kwietnia: ">Co do live to postawiłbym pieniądze na to że na pierwszym koncercie z trasy y0, zostanie zagrana cała płyta. Tylko nie wiem jak,naprawdę. I do tego płynące przez cały okres trwania koncertu jakieś wizualizacje urzeczywistniające nam koncepcyjność Y0. Wyszłoby połączenie koncertu rockowego z seansem w kinie. Mogłoby być ciekawie choć to raczej sci-fi Prorok? |
